Paphiopedilum Meditation

(Winston Churchill 'Indominatable' FCC x Paph. charlesworthii  'Mark'.

This is the first bloom of a compot I purchased in 2006 from Chuck Acker. Their description said incredibly easy to grow and bloom. The description was one of the most accurate I have encountered from a propagator selling a product.  I am amazed to get a bloom so quickly, in this case less than 2 years. This one is not the biggest plant, just the first to bloom. What a great job they are doing.

The photo shows the bloom and the division starting at the base of the plant. The new growth is a little more than 1" tall now. The bloom is about 3" x 3". The leaf spans about 8". The bloom size dwarfs the plant growth at this time.

It is growing in a plastic cup. The cup is 4" deep and 3" diameter at the top. Holes were added on the side about 1" up from the bottom. It holds about a 3/4" reservoir of water in the bottom after watering. It provides a little more depth than a standard small pot. I can see through it enough to verify the moisture content. It makes an effective and inexpensive pot choice.

I've bought other compots and flasks from Chuck Acker. He has been a joy to work with during the purchase process,  corresponds promptly and courteously, and encourages grower updates on his plant sales. He strives to provide the best product and service available and his reputation is justified.

Plants and flasks I purchased from the Ackers have been packaged with care and arrive in top notch condition.  Most plants are larger and arrived in better shape than individually planted seedlings I purchased from other growers or resellers.
