I admit it. When news of Phragmipedium kovachii first came out, I wanted to own one. I paid my deposit to reserve mine. Then I waited until they would be available for resell in the United States. My original order was cancelled. I was disappointed, but now I wonder in hindsight if I would have been adequately prepared for their cultural requirements. In the meantime I attempted to research the environment of their native habitat and read nearly everything I could online about P. kovachii.
It looks as if a hybrid may be a better choice for me than the species, at least until a few generations have been in cultivation. By then there should be more information and history of what works and what doesn't work.
